How does a rate auction work?
With our extensive partner network, we also have access to virtually every supplier in the country, which allows us to analyze and compare rates across the entire landscape of suppliers.
We analyze each commercial customer’s unique profile of how and when they use energy and match that against the best suppliers for that particular profile. For larger customers we can also orchestrate a rate auction where we provide all the suppliers the profile of your usage and then on a specific day and time they literally bid against each other for your business. We then provide the customer the top bidders and allow them to choose their supplier, rate, and term. This competitive process ensures a true “apples to apples” comparison and creates a competitive atmosphere where suppliers actually compete to win your business.
For our lower cost green residential supplier, Viridian, there are absolutely no fees to switch and no cancelation fees.
For our commercial suppliers, there are no fees to switch to them. Cancelation fees completely depend on the supplier you choose and the type of contract you select. Some suppliers require a contract in exchange for providing a fixed rate (for example if you lock in a fixed rate for 24 months, there may be cancelation fees, but your rate will be fixed and cannot go up regardless of the market conditions and current wholesale prices of electricity during your fixed rate lock period.)
